Annie Rivers
Annie Rivers has spent a lifetime reading and daydreaming, much to the despair of her parents and educators. Rather than read her school books, she’d be reading magazines, novels or even the back of “Mr. Bubble” boxes (if there was nothing else around at the moment).
She discovered romance novels while in college and, through the years, she and her grandmother would trade books back and forth. Her grandmother would warn her about the old romance novels where “they didn’t kiss until the last page. Skip ‘em.” The two had to keep their “hobby” a secret from Annie’s mother, who disapproved of reading romance novels, no matter what your age.
After college, Annie landed a job as a legal secretary (and landed one of her bosses as her husband) and continued to read voraciously. In the twenty years that she has been married, and through countless moves, Annie and her husband have transported (at last count) 67 boxes of books. They parted with a lot of personal flotsam and jetsam, but refused to part with their beloved books.
Currently, Annie lives with her husband, her almost-out-of-his-teens son, and three goofy cats in a sunny duplex. When called upon to entertain, she dims the lights so you won’t notice the dust on the furniture, since she’d rather read than do housework. She continues to haunt the local library for new reading material and is particularly fond of true crime, biographies, autobiographies and romance novels. She no longer needs to read the back of Mr. Bubble boxes as she keeps a stack of books in every room, as emergency rations.
Her idea of heaven is a pet snuggled up next to her as she reads and Jeeves bringing an endless supply of Double Chocolate Milano cookies.
