Jane Porter
Jane Porter, a name many recognize as a talented author who has contributed greatly to the romance genre over the years, is back, with the release of her new romance, The Latin Lover’s Secret Child. This is a romance so emotionally captivating it’ll have readers glued to the pages until the final page has been read and rejoiced over.
Years ago Anabella Galvan, the daughter of a Count, and Lucio Cruz, a poor laborer, met and fell in love, but because Lucio was poor and not what Anabella’s mother wanted for her daughter she refused to approve.
Desperately in love the two continued seeing each other behind her mother’s back, until her unplanned pregnancy made it impossible to keep their relationship a secret any longer. Now, with a baby on the way, the pair eloped, hoping to force her mother into accepting their love.
They quickly realized how wrong they were when not even the news of her pregnancy or their elopement could sway Anabella’s mother into accepting someone so beneath them into the family.
Anabella quickly came to the conclusion that not only would her mother never accept Lucio into the family, she’d make his life miserable. Disheartened, Anabella realized she had no choice but to leave him and go away to a boarding school for expectant mothers and then return to her family if Lucio was to ever again have a moment’s peace.
Away at the school and missing Lucio, Anabella contented herself with the knowledge that she would always have a part of him in their child. Only that was not about to happen; something went terribly wrong. Anabella’s delivery as fraught with problems, and when it was all over she was informed that her son hadn’t made it, putting a final nail in the coffin that was their marriage.
Though Lucio went on with his life he was never able to forget about his wife, the only woman he had ever loved. And when her doctor called with the news that she had been terribly ill and had lost her memories he went running to her side, only to find that she had not only lost her memories, she believed that their child was alive, no matter what anyone told her. The more Lucio listened to Anabella the more he was beginning to believe her.
But if it was true, where was their child? And why would anyone have taken him from them and let them believe he had died? Lucio didn’t know the answer but he intended to find out, because if it was true, and his son was out there, he intended to get him back and give him the family that was rightfully his.
Within moments of cracking open The Latin Lover’s Secret Child I found myself immediately drawn into Lucio and Anabella’s story. I was captivated. And by the time I had finished reading the first three chapters I was riveted to what was taking place. It was taking all my self-control to not flip ahead to the final pages and read the gripping outcome. To some the plot might seem far-fetched, but within a few expertly scripted pages Ms. Porter takes it from far-fetched to plausible. From there it was only a matter of a few short paragraphs for it to become real, heartbreaking and completely enthralling. I couldn’t get enough of it!
Ms. Porter is an author who isn’t afraid to take a chance on an idea, plot or book she believes in, and it pays off because her instincts are right on the money as shown by her continued success.
Compelling, Ms. Porter’s latest is one romance fans of Harlequin Presents and romance in general don’t want to miss out on.
