...Who ever said being sixteen was easy?
Jax Abbott
Super 16
Dorchester Smooch
February 2005Jax Abbott
Jessie Drummond is a normal teenager for the most part. She has all of the trials and tribulations that anyone getting ready to turn sixteen would have. Like trying to figure out how her hair should look, with out tearing it up. How she is going to keep from looking stupid with braces from Dr. Pain, I mean Dr. Payne -- who is a psychopath by the way. She also has to pass her drivers test, and try to keep the head bully from school from trying to take one of her best friend's boyfriend. She also has her mom dating the town's sheriff.
However Jessie is not like all "normal teenagers." She is also a super hero, and of course she can't be like "normal super" heroes either. No she is the first super hero in generations to have more than one power. She has super hearing, which she can't use to eavesdrop on her family, friends and boyfriend because it just wouldn't be right. Nice sometimes but not right. Jessie also has x-ray vision, super speed and super strength. And she has to keep all of them under wraps because the normal people of the world can't find out about them. Furthermore if this wasn't enough she also has to go before the League of Liberty Council to take a test to make sure she is learning everything she should while staying at home. Or she will have to go and foster with someone from the council so she can learn what she need to know. Oh and there is the arsonist who is setting fires around school. Who ever said being sixteen was easy?
Super 16 is a very fast paced book. Jax Abbott has you on the move from the first page to the last. You are always amused at what Ms. Abbott has Jessie getting herself into. And let me tell you, Jessie was always finding herself in one situation or another, from trying to drive a car, not very well I might add, to trying to get her hair straight. By the way, always read the label on hair products. Then there is trying to study for her test for the League of Liberty Council, and getting ready to turn sixteen. Whew! It has you going through the paces with her. So pick up a copy of this story and find out that sixteen can be Super 16 even if you are a super hero.
